Man muss sich das mal vorstellen: Die Drei von Das Hobos eröffnen einen Club in Form einer Single mit zwei Seiten! Cash Only heisst es auf Seite A, wie als warnender Hinweis an der Tür zu einem Etablissement, in dem nur hartes Geld greift. Wer den Song betritt, steht in einem Raum aus Tränen und kaputten Träumen. Dennoch, es ist angenehm warm in diesem Raum. Der Dunst der liberalen Verheissungen von Unabhängigkeit und Mobilität lässt sich dort noch atmen – im Wissen, dass es eben diese süßliche Luft ist, die dir die Lunge eines Nachts in Brand stecken und zerfetzen wird. Und so klingt Cash Only: Wie Americana, gespielt von Schwarzen! Soulfull. Deep. Cool. Immer wieder Cash Only. Tag ein, Tag aus, Cash Only. Cash Only über alles... und das Geld ist weggezaubert.

Der Payback folgt auf Seite B: Im Suzuki Motorcycle Club darf getanzt werden! Während der Bass knattert wie bei Sly Stone und der Flow flattert wie bei Garland Jeffreys, wird ein Clubspirit beschworen. Das Spiel von Tom Simonetti, LeRoy & Frank Nägele hat was von der ausgelassenen Ernsthaftigkeit eines Initiationsritus. Wer das Gitarrensolo findet, hat gewonnen. Und der Beat kommt so cool gebabbelt, wie wenn Prince einen Rock'n'Roll spielte. Aber das glaubt jetzt wieder keiner. So ist das mit jedem Club: Man kann Ratschläge mit auf den Weg geben, Empfehlungen und Warnungen aussprechen... es hilft nichts. Reingehen muss man selber!
